What is HIV?
It is the causative virus of AIDS. The HIV-word is an acronym for "Human Immunodeficiency Virus" the definition of each of these words is:
Virus: etiologic agent of infection.
Immunodeficiency: This virus attacks the immune system or defense, ie the system that defends the body against the action of harmful agents such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, protozoa, etc..
Human: This virus only attacks humans, has not reported its action in mice.
